Both the written test and the typing test are required to be passed in order to be considered for the position of Lower Division Clerk. The typing test is only open to individuals who succeed on the written exam. The sole competitive examination for Lower Division Clerks, or L.D.C., positions in the 63 research institutes of the Indian Council of Agricultural Research, or ICAR, is administered by the Agricultural Scientists Recruitment Board, also known as ASRB. Other lower division clerk exams in other segments are also handled by the S.S.C., or staff selection commission. Candidates must be fluent in computer operation and typing, and they must have completed secondary school (12th grade) or its equivalent from a recognized institution. According to the L.D.C. Eligibility Criteria for Nationality, candidates must be Indian citizens and between the ages of 18 and 42.
